Teaching objectives   

1. Language objectives:  

1) To enable the Ss to master the following words in listening, speaking, reading and writing: curtain, mirror, closet, end table, trash bin.   

2) To enable the Ss to understand and speak the sentence: “ In my room I have a…”and also the word: air-conditioner.  

2. Ability objectives:  

1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.  

2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.  

3. Emotion objectives:  

1) To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation.  

2) To lead Ss to show their loveliness to their family.  

Teaching main points: the four-skill words   

Teaching difficult point: air-conditioner  

Teaching aids: the multimedia equipments, word cards, small models of furniture  

Teaching procedure:  

warm up  

1 Greeting  

T : Hello, boys and girls. Nice to meet you.   

Ss : Hello, Miss Wu .  

T : Are you helpful at home ?   

Ss : Sure .  

2,Free talk  

T : What can you do ?  

S1: I can sweep the floor / set the table ……  

T : You are helpful   

3 . Let’s sing   

T : Oh , everyone is helpful. Let’s sing a song “I can help”  

Presentation  

1T : We make the bed, set the table .Look , now the room is beautiful.  

T : What can you see in this picture.  

Ss : I can see a bed ,a picture……  

2 Teach “trash bin”  

T : What can you see on the floor?  

Ss : trash  

T : We should put the trash in the trash bin.   

Show “trash bin” -----I have a trash bin  

3 T : What's on the bed ? Put the clothes in it .  

Ss : Closet   

4 Teach “curtain”  

T : What’s that?  

Ss : Window   

T : What’s on the window .  

Ss : Curtain (teach)  

5 Teach “mirror”  

T : Oh, I’m beautiful today .What’s in my hand ?  

Show “mirror”-------I have a mirror  

6 T : Look, what’s this ?  

Ss : Table.  

T : Is it a table?  

Ss : No, it’s an end table.7  

7 T : I’m so hot. I need an air-conditioner.  

1) Listen to the tape and read after the tape.  

Consolidation  

1 Read the words follow the tape  

2 Read the words low to high  

3 Play a game: one, two, bomb  

4 Golden eyes  

5 Let ‘s chant  

Trash bin, trash bin, I have a trash bin.  

Closet, closet, I have a closet.  

Mirror, mirror, I have a mirror.  

Curtain, curtain, I have a curtain.  

End table, end table, I have an end table.  

Air-conditioner, air-conditioner, I have an air-conditioner.  

. Extension   

1 Show a big picture (an empty room) and some small pictures on the blackboard.  

T asks some students to desigh their rooms on the blackboard and deseribe the room like this:  

S1: In my room , I have a bed  

S2 : In my room , I have a bed and closet.  

S3 :   

2:Design your new room.  

In my new room. I have a , _______…, and _________. I like my room.  

Homework   

1 Listen to the tape and read the new word  

2 Introduce your bedroom to your friends
