1.请翻译： It took me an hour to do my homework today.
I spent an hour on my homework today.
答案：今天我花了一个小时做作业。
这两句的测试重点是动词take和spend。它们都可以用来“花费”时间，但还有别的区别呢，你知道吗？
(1)take主要指花费时间，其常见结构为It takes sb some time to do sth，it在此作形式主语，真正的主语是后面的不定式to do sth。
It took me two hours to do my homework last night.
昨晚我做作业花了两个小时。
take的主语也可以是某种活动，其后接宾语或双宾语。
The work will take a week.
这工作要花费一个星期的时间。
(2)spend的主语必须是人，常用于spend time/money on sth或spend time/money(in)doing sth结构中，其中in可省略。

He spent five dollars on the book.
他买那本书花了五美元。
He spent three days(in)reading the novel.
他花了三天的时间看那本小说。
2.I need to see my friend.
(1) need用作及物动词，意为“需要”，后接名词、代词或不定式。如：
I need help. 我需要帮助。
He needs to attend a meeting. 他需要参加一个会议。
need doing意为：“需要……”，含有被动含义。如：
The room needs cleaning. 房间需要打扫了。
The floor needs sweeping. 地板需要擦了。
(2) need还可用作情态动词，后接动词原形，常用于否定句或疑问句中。如：
You needn't come so early. 你没必要来那么早。
(3) see my friend意为“看望我的朋友”，看望某人常用see，也可用visit。看电影常用see。look强调看的动作，see强调看的结果，watch强调集中注意力来观看（电视、比赛等）。

3.Then he leaves for school at around six-thirty.
(1) leave for的意思是“动身去某地”的意思,如:
When will you leave for Beijing?
你将什么时候动身去北京？
I usually leave for work at about eight.
我通常在八点左右去上班。
值得注意的是:
leave someplace的意思是“离开某地”;leave place A for place B则表示“离开A地到B地去”。试比较:
She's leaving Shenyang soon.
她很快就要离开沈阳了。
Why are you leaving Wuhan for Shenyang?
你为什么要离开武汉到沈阳去呢？
Do you want to leave for Shenyang?
你想动身去沈阳吗？
(2) around 是副词,意思相当于about,表示“左右”,与时间连在一起使用,如:
Can we get to school at around seven thirty?
我们七点半左右能达到学校吗？
4.In China, it depends on where you are.
(1) depend on意思是“依靠、依赖”的意思,如:
A lot will depend on how she works.
在很大程度上取决于她是如何工作的。
What he will do depends on the weather.
他将做什么取决天气。
(2) where you are 意思是“你来自什么地方”,即你是哪里的人。where you are 在句中做动词短语depend on的宾语(从句担任宾语),如:
I can't understand what he says.
我不明白他的话的意思。
Can you tell me where he comes from?
你能告诉我他是哪的人吗？
